(my) American Life
This selection of photographs were to stand as a representation from thousands of pictures made over 13 years in America, where I have lived, studied, and taught photography. In 2010, when I moved to Hong Kong for an unknown period of time, I gathered these a “Farewell Exhibition” at Gallery Kayafas in Boston. Unlike many of the other photographic projects I worked on in the past two decades, (my) American Life was photographed and realized everyday and everywhere; it was not planned, not envisioned and not expected.
(my) American Life is an intimate photographic journey through the American landscape and culture I experienced from during my first 13 years of living in the United States. This series is also an homage to American Photography and photographers who inspired and informed my practice and teaching.
